EarthRoamer is managed by Bill Swails – founder, President and CEO and Tyler Tatro – COO. With their passion for excellence, Bill and Tyler are committed to meeting the needs of the people who purchase EarthRoamer Xpedition Vehicles. This “lean and mean” management team has a diverse skill set that enables them to make decisions quickly and efficiently and be the market leader with innovative designs and implementation of new technologies.  

Bill Swails – President and CEO

Bill Swails founded EarthRoamer in 1998 as a business focused on adventure travel, writing, and photography. At that time Bill was driving a custom expedition camper he built in his driveway to explore, travel and camp in remote locations. In 2002 it became clear that people were more interested in Bill’s custom camper than his photography and writing, so Bill designed the EarthRoamer XV-LT and started manufacturing Xpedition Vehicles. Bill has held every position at EarthRoamer, but his favorite “jobs” are designing vehicles and sharing adventures with EarthRoamer owners.

Bill received his BS in Systems Engineering from Ohio State University in 1985, and his MBA from UCLA in 1995. Bill has twenty six years of experience in engineering management, consulting, marketing, operations, design, writing and photography for a diverse group of companies including McDonnell Douglas (Aerospace), American Management Systems (Consulting), Qwest Communications (Telecom) and EarthRoamer (Xpedition Vehicle Design, Production, Marketing and Sales).

Tyler Tatro – COO

Tyler joined EarthRoamer in April of 2007 as a member of the EarthRoamer XV-LT build team and quickly earned the respect of both his coworkers and management. Tyler demonstrated strong skills in every aspect of EarthRoamer production and after only a few months was selected to co-manage the warranty and service department where he excelled. Tyler continued to take on additional challenges and is the brains behind many of the business, operating and accounting systems in use at EarthRoamer today. Tyler has a diverse skill set and has excelled at everything from sales and marketing to design and production. Tyler has held positions of increasing responsibility including Director of Sales and Operations before being promoted to COO.

Before joining EarthRoamer, Tyler held positions as a service technician, project manager and apprentice electrician. Tyler received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration Management from the University of Colorado where he was a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society and Beta Gama Sigma Business Honor Society. Tyler also has his commercial driver’s license (Class A CDL).
