It had been a long day driving and the noisy world was suddenly behind me. I savored the sound of the quiet desert wind while standing spellbound by the brilliant slice of green Colorado River snaking its way through crimson rock almost a thousand feet below. It was too dark to drive on, and I was already anticipating a spectacular sunrise at this very spot, so this is where I would spend the night.
