After identifying good locations, I would shoot the sunset and then find an inconspicuous place near my chosen sunrise location where I could park for the night. In the morning I would get up about an hour before first light and drive the short distance to my shooting location. After setting up my camera equipment, I would head back to the warmth of my camper and enjoy a nice hot breakfast while waiting for the sun to rise. Some mornings I was rewarded with incredible displays of color and would sometimes burn through 100 frames in 30 minutes, other mornings the light wasn't any good and I never took a shot.
