We are currently seeking a skilled Body Work Technician who takes pride in achieving flawless surfaces and has a sharp eye for detail and finish to work on truly one-of-a-kind, world-class vehicles.

As a Body Work Technician in our Paint Department, your primary focus will be hands-on bodywork — shaping, smoothing, and perfecting the outer surfaces of our composite Xpedition vehicles. Your expertise in sanding, filling, and fairing will directly impact the final quality and appearance of every EarthRoamer we produce. This is a key role for someone who thrives on precision and craftsmanship.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed bodywork on composite vehicle exteriors to ensure smooth, seamless surfaces.
  • Prepare bodies and chassis for coating applications.
  • Sand, fill, and fair using a variety of tools and fillers to prepare surfaces for paint.
  • Assess and correct surface imperfections with a meticulous and methodical approach.
  • Work closely with team members to maintain consistent quality standards across all projects.
  • Follow paint prep procedures and ensure all surfaces meet exacting finish standards.
  • Ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Meet scheduled deadlines (overtime may be required to meet delivery commitments).
  • Keep work area clean, organized, and compliant with safety protocols.

Job Qualifications:

  • 2–3 years of professional bodywork experience (automotive, marine, or composite experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of filler applications, sanding techniques, and fairing processes.
  • Ability to shape and blend materials to achieve flawless finishes.
  • Experience working with hand tools, sanding blocks, air tools, and power sanders.
  • High attention to detail and strong sense of surface aesthetics.
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record.

Skills:

  • Experience working with composite materials (fiberglass, carbon fiber, etc.)
  • A passion for craftsmanship and a desire to produce top-tier bodywork
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performance team

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical school training desired.

Job Details

  • Shift runs 7:00-3:30 Monday-Friday.
  • This is a full-time position requiring consistent dependable attendance at our Facility in Dacono, Colorado.
  • This position is non-exempt, and therefore eligible for overtime pay.
  • The position may require some work outside of normal business hours, paid as overtime.
  • This position reports directly to the Composites Manager.
  • Starting wage $23-27 / hour base.

Working Environment and Physical Demands

  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Fast-paced production environment.
  • Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, lifting (weights up to 75 lbs.) and stretching.
  • Requires climbing or working on ladders or scaffolding up to 10 feet high.
  • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to safely operate a hand and power tools, and other manufacturing equipment.
  • Requires a normal range of hearing to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (machinery and alarms).
  • Requires eyesight correctable to 20/20 to work with small objects, read small print, use computers.
