Overview
The most radical changes to the appearance of my truck is the addition of Denver Off Road heavy duty aluminum bumpers and replacing the factory bed with the Safari Vehicles camper. Other changes have been relatively minor by comparison, but still improve the looks and functionality of my truck.
Bugshield
The three piece bugshield was purchased at Walmart, and helps keep bugs and rocks off of my windshield. It's the first modification I made to my stock truck, so be careful or you may get bitten by the upgrade bug and end up with an EarthRoamer.
Fender Flares
The Xenon fender flares fit perfectly. look great and do an excellent job keeping rocks and mud off of the body panels.
Step Bars
I don't know the brand of my step bars, but a step bar is required to get into my lifted, big tire truck. I plan to replace the sidebars with custom built steps that will be more functional. I am working with Denver Off Road to design a removable, open grate, aluminum step that can also be used as a sand ladder.
The open grate design will allow me to scrape mud and snow off of my shoes when entering the truck. My rear camper step is an open grate design, and this works very well in helping keep mud outside. I simply scrape my shoes on the grate and the mud falls through the openings to the ground.
With removable steps, I can take them off if I have clearance problems on rough roads. The 6 foot long steps will also be useable as traction aids in mud, sand or loose soil. I will be able to simple remove them and place then under the wheels.
Towing Mirrors
I really like my heated, electric factory mirrors, but with the new camper they don't extend far enough to get a full rear view. I plan to replace my mirrors with the new Dodge "Mickey Mouse" towing mirrors.
