XV-LT Specifications

EarthRoamer® XV-LTs are built on Ford F-550 cab chassis trucks in either a SuperCab or Crew Cab configuration. This is a commercial duty, diesel powered, 4x4 truck built for serious business. The Ford cab offers best-in-class roominess and the Lariat package provides leather seating and creature comforts to ensure comfort and safety on long journeys. The Ford F-550 with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 17,950 pounds is our platform of choice. We believe that the F-550 with the 4.88 axle ratio combined with our larger diameter (37 inch) medium duty truck tires generates excellent highway driving speeds, while still providing good low gearing for towing and trail use.

The decision of SuperCab vs. Crew Cab is essentially a tradeoff between length and interior space. The SuperCab has a 14-inch shorter overall length (the rear seat area in cab is reduced by 14 inches) as well as a 14-inch shorter wheelbase. This makes the SuperCab slightly easier to maneuver and park. While the SuperCab has four seats in the cab, the rear seats are suitable only for children and adults on short trips.

The Crew Cab has an extremely spacious cab with four full sized doors and seating for four adults. The rear of the cab provides comfortable seating for two adults or two children in car seats. If more seating is needed, front and rear bench seating can be ordered providing seating for six. The rear doors of the Crew Cab can be used as a practical alternate entry or exit to and from the camper, and the B-pillar provides increased cab rigidity. The Crew Cab is almost like adding another room to an EarthRoamer and is a very popular configuration. The rear seats can be removed to provide a large storage space for gear.
